    Bug: Excel 'resizes' Form/ActiveX controls

    Dear all,

I have a bug that has been introduced since a couple of weeks. The bug can be reproduced on many computers with Excel 2016 installed.
The bug is not present in Excel 2013, nor in Excel 2016 before a couple of weeks ago.

I have 2 questions about this bug:
    1. can you reproduce this bug?
    2. is there a way to work around it?

    Bug description (in steps):
    • I start of with 1 form control (checkbox), 0.5cm height, 5cm width on row 4. Properties: "move but don't size with cell".
    • Now I hide any rows that intersect with the row of the object (I hide row 2 to 10)
    • Now I unhide all rows, as a result the form control looks weird. This is the bug

If one would click and hold the checkbox, one would find out that the checkbox has actually resized.
When releasing the mouse-button, it immediately switched back to the weird look.
When going in to properties, one would find out that the height is no longer set on 0.5cm but on .... cm instead.

I do not think this is an Excel bug
    - I have Excel 2016 and I cannot replicate your problem
    - the check box resizes correctly when rows are unhidden

    My guess:
    - Excel is setting the height correctly but the PC default units are not consistent (some are set to "cm" , others to "inches")

    Try checking Windows Regional Settings:
    - objects measured in inches \ centimeters.....Text Box, Drawing Object, List Box, Comment Box size .. I think may be determined by user Windows Regional Settings ( perhaps latest Windows update changed the settings for some users ??? )

Workaround code (on affected PC's) until you fix (amend 100 to your chosen height (in cms!):
