Get exact cell content of a referenced cell

Is there a way to get the exact output of a referenced cell?

I have tried playing with the cell format menu, but I can't get a satisfying result.

If I use "General", referenced blank cells becomes zeroes instead of blank cells. I just want blank cells to be blank when referenced and zeroes to be zeroes.
Is there a way to do this using the "Special" feature from the drop-down menu?

    Thanks!

Is this the same query as you other thread?

OK. So, here we go again ...

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook?

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

    Maybe:

    =IF(A1="","",A1)

This is my guess Ali and Glenn, I'm guessing that if Allerdrengen has =A2 in, say B2 and A2 is blank it returns 0 in B2 instead of blank. And that he/she doesn't want it to return blank and doesn't want to alter the formula to something like =IF(A2="","",A2) so instead wants through formatting for it to return blank.

In that case, he/she can use custom formatting to hide 0, however this would hide ALL zeroes, and not just those that are the results of formulae (unless JUST the cells with dformulae are formatted).

As in the other thread, it's all a bit of a guessing game!

Re: Get exact cell content of a referenced cell

Sambo kid and AliGW you are correct that is exactly the problem. And yes, if I use custom formatting the values that are actual zeroes also go away. Do you know a way around this?

Glenn Kennedy the problem with that is that I have a lot of formulas, so it wont work.

Thank you all for your responses.
