    Help with IF statements

Hi! I am a new user to the forum so I'm hoping I can explain my issue correctly. I have 4 columns of data and I need a formula to return "points earned" based on the data in each of those 4 columns.

Column A is my "Adjusted Achieved Rate". If Column D is equal to or higher than this rate, 0.5 points are earned.
Column B is my "3% Over Adjusted Achieved Rate". If Column D is equal to or higher than this rate, 1.0 points are earned.
Column C is my "6% Over Adjusted Achieved Rate". If Column D is equal to or higher than this rate, 1.5 points are earned.
Column D is my "2018 Achieved Rate"

I am trying to use a Nested IF statements to do this (there may be a more efficient way that I am unfamiliar with). The problem I am running into is that if points are earned in a different column, then they aren't earned in an 'earlier' column. For example, if 1.0 points are earned based on Column B, then the 0.5 points based on column A cannot also be earned. If 1.5 points are earned based on Column C, then the 1.0 points based on Column B and the 0.5 points based on Column A cannot also be earned.

Any help is much appreciated! And please let me know if there is a better way to do this in Excel.

    Thank you!

If that takes care of your original question, please select Thread Tools from the menu link above and mark this thread as SOLVED. Thanks.

Also, for next time, please see Forum Rule #1 about proper thread titles and pick something a little more descriptive towards your requirements...

Really? I thought it was spot on. All about If statements. What do you think would have been better?

    Re: Help with IF statements

    Hi Olly,

Maybe a possible title update could be...

Nested IF statement to return "points earned" based on 4 columns of data
A title like this could possibly help the search efforts of others

I know this can be a subjective rule sometimes, but I also believe some thought can be put into the title especially when the title is in the body of your description.

    Re: Help with IF statements

Running the risk of insisting the entire question is asked in the title...

Anyhow - a digression from an (already solved) thread.
