When pasting, use the right click and there you can select the paste options

However when I'm trying to shift the rows down I am not able to select the paste options.
I don't understand what you mean, shifting?
You mean you want to insert what you copied?
If so you can again, using the right mouse button select insert copied cells
I suggest you take a look at the help function in Excel and read up a some on it.
