Merge and Center identical cells

Hello all,

My organization just had a Gala with an auction, and couples had the same bid number, but the spreadsheet was sent to me like this:

Name	Bid #
John Smith	101
Jane Smith	101
Ted Jones	102
Tina Jones	102
Dan White	103
Donna White	103

I would like the matching numbers to be merged and centered so there is only one occurrence of each bid number to match with the items that number purchased. Is there a way to do this without having to select each pair of numbers and merging them?

Format the first one then use the Format Painter (little paintbrush icon) to copy that formatting and apply to the rest.
