    Date Formula

I am using a computer that has excel 2010 for my training. I am trying to do a date calculation, but am getting an error with the calculation. The error message is #name.

    The background info.
I am trying to calculate the number of days passed in a cell. The formula has DAYS, but I think that particular formula doesn't work for 2010 version as it works with no issues for my team member who has 2013 version.

Is there a DAYS formula I can use for 2010?

    Thank you for your help.

No. It was introduced in 2013.

That depends a lot on what the particular problem is you are trying to solve. There are a host of date type formulas. I suspect what you want to do can be done but we will need specifics. An uploaded workbook always helps ... (not pics or screenshots; saves retyping data).

BTW is this for a school class assignment?

Edit I had to review the DAYS function. I never use it. Now I see why. Since dates are numbers just subtract the end date from the start date. It returns the same number as DAYS.

    Re: Date Formula

simply deduct the later date from earlier date, and then Format the cell to GENERAL where the result is.

    Re: Date Formula

I have examined the upload. I don't understand what you are attempting to do.

I have some observations and a question.

If you are not aware of it dates (and times) are numbers. Excel processes dates starting at day 1 (1/1/1900). 4/19/2018 is the 43209th day from 1/1/1900. The formatting is cosmetic.

With that understanding it is almost always advisable to enter dates as actual dates and not text "dates" that look like dates (D12:D23). Those text dates have no numeric value and make date formulas and calculations awkward.

Also month names (E12:E23) can be cosmetically displayed through 'Custom formatting' real dates (as mmm or mmmm). Typed in as you have them require awkward formula work-arounds.

Having said all that please tell us how you arrived at the 'Days in Month' figures in F12:F23. I have tried guessing not able to duplicate those numbers. The same question applies to the other formulas in the summary sections.
