Data Validation List: Column A based on Value in Column B

    Hi everyone.

Column A has a list of names
Column B has a YES or a NO - This changes periodically from YES to NO and NO to YES

I would like to have a data validation that uses the list in column A but only those that have currently have a YES in column B.

Side Note - I need to do this without naming a range of any kind

What formula can I use in the data validation to return a list from column A where the corresponding cell in column B = YES?
I help because of the Pavlovian dog that resides in the inner me...so if you are happy with the results, please add to my reputation. It helps keep me motivated!

I taken this to mean no named ranges in Name Manager.

In column K find this array entered formula that returns all "Y" names. If you aren’t familiar with array-entered formulas array enter means the formula must be committed from edit mode by simultaneously pressing and holding down Ctrl and Shift while hitting Enter.
    Formula: copy to clipboard

The the validation formula applied to drop downs in column D.

I may have put myself in a box - having hoped for a formula to enter into the data validation list itself - however this works and resolves another issue I hadn't considered. Thanks!!

You are welcome. Thanks for the feedback and rep.

having hoped for a formula to enter into the data validation list itself
If that's doable here with formula (returning DV list of values directly in DV manager by criteria) I have never been able to do it.

It gives me another "study" project to return to though.
