gantt chart by week conditional formatting

    Hello all,

while gantt chart with conditional formatting is widely available for downloading, gantt chart by week isn't really popular. The team is not really ready to work at day level of planning and my modification from date to week has been working until activities plan across two years. Any hint or anyone has week level of gantt chart to share? I am aiming to allow user input start date as YEAR & WEEK (e.g. 201820) with duration as number of week. Really appreciate on any input.

    Thanks very much
    puro

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

Re: gantt chart by week conditional formatting

    Hello,

I am working on a gantt chart model to enable multiple year projects that track by week. It has been a working gantt chart by conditional formatting within year. However, I now needa enable multi year project on the gantt chart. Below image is the mock up on what I want as a result. I like to have a project start for example 2018 week 52 and the duration will be 2 weeks. the gantt chart will draw a bar on 2018 week 52 and 2019 week 1. Any suggestion on how this can be archived?

    Thank you very much.

Re: gantt chart by week conditional formatting

Hello puropuro and Welcome to Excel Forum.
This proposed solution employs two helper columns and a helper row all of which could be moved and/or hidden for aesthetic purposes.
The Week# in column E has also been changed to display only the week# as opposed to the year and week#.
The first helper column (G) calculates the Monday of the 'Plan Start Week' using:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

The second helper column (H) calculates the Monday of the week after the duration expires using:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

N5:CC5 display the first Monday of each week using:
    Formula: copy to clipboard

The formula used for conditional formatting (shown in red for demonstration purposes) is: =AND(N$5>=$G10,N$5<$H10)
