Leave calculated figure unchanged if value in reference cell is changed

I have a figure in a cell which a whole column of formula refer to in order to calculate an answer.

I put a figure in that cell and all is well until that figure has to be changed.

Then, all calculations already made will change since the formula is now using the new number for its calculations.

Is there a way that I can tell excel to leave already calculated figures unchanged when a new reference figure is entered and to only use the new number for all new calculations?

You would need to convert the formulas to values in the cells you don't want to change.

    Using VBA or manually.

I was hoping there was a way to do it without deleting the formulas in those cells.

But if the formulas stay they are no longer correct.

looks like time for an example because you cannot have the old result and new result in the same cell so most likely you have a formula that calculates results and results are in multiple cells but previous rows must not change for newly entered numbers

please provide an an example so we can build a solution on you data instead of mutual assumptions or interpretations of what you mean..

I was hoping there was a way to do this which wouldn't involve changing the formulas or changing the calculated figures into actual entries in the cell in place of the formula. But I don't think there is so I have come up with another solution which works fine. Thanks for your input .
