Paste Special not working properly

Hi all, could someone help me figure this out please.. We have a user with a new PC (and Excel 2003 - don't start :-)). There is a particular spreadsheet that he is trying to copy from and it doesn't matter where he tries to 'paste special' it, it always comes up with the attached image.

If i use the exact same spreadsheet on my PC then it works as normal. Can't understand it! Thanks

Figured it out. Excel has been opening separate instances of itself every time a .xls file is opened but not from within Excel itself.

Just need to figure out why that is happening now!
