Remove Document Information Panel

I received a template from one of our PE groups and every time I open it the annoying Document Information Panel opens. I've learned to deal with it, however, inevitably someone else here clicks on the enable links and it asks for the UN/PW and then excel freezes up. I've scoured the internet and couldn't seem to find any way to remove it.

Any suggestions?

This worked for me:

1. on the developer tab click the "Document Panel" button
2. on the pop up window uncheck the box at the bottom that says "Always show document information panel on document open and initial save"
3. click the X on the far right of the document information panel to close it
4. save the workbook
5. close and reopen

Thanks Gregor, my box is grayed out. Any other ideas?

The Display by Default has a drop down but only says "Standard and Sharepoint Library Properties".
