Exclamation Live copy of worksheet

Hi All,

I have a worksheet which we are population large amounts of data on, it is shared which does not allow me to do certain activities.

What is the quickest way please to create a live copy of all the work done onto the master sheet to another. This would also be a way as a back up our data

thanks

Re: Live copy of worksheet

Just make a 2nd file that would contain all the pieces of info you want, then just link them together with a formula.

If the location/position of data in the source file may change, we can construct a vlookup or index/match to handle that.
If the data will always be in the same place, depending on what you want to see/show, we could either use a simple =[source-file-name.XLSB]Sheet1!A1
or something like =SUM([source-file-name.XLSB]Sheet1!$A$2:$A$8)

If you give more detail, we can help better
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)

Good afternoon jexcel123

When you use Save As, you get options to apply to the file.
Click on Tools > General Options and there is a tick box there for "Always Create Back Up".

Try using that.

Re: Live copy of worksheet

hi i literally would like to a copy of the file so whatever is entered into the main file, copies over to the copy file so i can do analysis on that without effecting the main file. i tried =a1 and dragging it, doesnt seem to capture anything live, is this the best way?

Re: Live copy of worksheet

you will not be able to capture anything live. In a shared file you will always see the last saved version. Unsaved changes will not be visable in the copy.
