automatic updating of column when copying conditional formatting

    Hello all,

if the attached file you can see the calendar (Staff!) which has conditional formatting (only 2 functions per cell). My problem is that I need it to be on each cell "day", but the formula needs to change column for each day. Right now I'm painstakingly copy pasting to new conditional formatting rules for each cell. I feel like there must be an easier way to do this. I found the "Format Painter" and have been using that, but when I need to go from January 7 to 8, it jumps rows and throws the format painter off and does not continue the formatting as I need.

I'm not sure what to do except continuing to spend long chunks of time editing the conditional formatting in a "manual" way when I need to adjust something in it.

    Any suggestions?

If you look at the document and open conditional formatting on any of the dates in the calendar under Staff! then it should make sense to you what I'm trying to achieve.

Thanks for any help you can give!

I have not looked deeply at this but you have made problems(s) for yourself by using merged cells (for no obvious reason that I can determine).

Why use merged cells and then "compress" the rows????

I had gone on a template I saw online (I'm a bit new to excel) and that's what they did... It was mostly to format the month sheets, so I guess I just kept the same idea for the main page too.

Please take a moment to read the forum rules and then amend your thread title to something descriptive of your problem - not what you think the answer might be. (think google search terms?). Once you have done this please send me a PM and I will remove this request. (Also, include a link to your thread - copy from the address bar)

Many members search our previous posts, and thread titles play a big part of the search. I doubt anybody would do a search based on your title?

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT POST then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

(note: this change is not optional )
    1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
