These lists has the same names but one list (List 1) is more populated than the other.
What I want now is to color the names that appeared on list 1 just once but are not on list 2 since list 1 has the highest number of names.

Select the range of values in sheet 1 > home tab > Conditional formatting > New rule > Use a formula > =ISERROR(MATCH(A2,Sheet2!$A:$A,0)) > select the format you want > OK

    Thank you for your response....
it saved me much stress.thanks a bunch.

but please, i tried this formula the other way round i.e =ISERROR(MATCH(A2,Sheet1!$A:$A,0)) and i pasted it on sheet 2 as directed, and the response i got was 2 coloured and the said names are already on sheet 1.

please can you help me look through it so if i want to use it either way it should work as supposed.

    thank you

That should work. On your test file it highlighted A23 only.
Did you highlight the whole of col A when you set the rule, or A2 to the end?
