Enter a series of 5 cells but ignore weekend/holiday cells on calendar

    Hi, All

I'm new to this forum - 1st post. Please let me know if i'm doing this right/wrong.

I'm creating a linear calendar, left to right, one day per field/column. Used for many staff to plot 5-day-in-a row projects. the only days that can't be scheduled are weekends and occasional Statutory Holidays. I'd like to be able to enter "Day1" onto any given weekday and then to automatically fill the next 4 available and sequential work days, ignoring weekends and holidays, and overflowing into the next week when necessary. I've thought of a macro to do so, but I can only imagine one with an inordinate number of nested IF functions, and I'm bound to forget some variable that only occasionally occurs...or just end up pulling my hair out getting all the nesting right. Here's a basic idea below.
    Any thoughts

Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri Sat Sun Mon Tue Wed Thu Fri
    Day1 Day2 Stat Day3 Day4 Day5

I tried to upload a copy of the file. not sure if it worked. Called "5-Day Project Calendar"

    Thanks
    Jim

    You could use NETWORKDAYS().

However the problem is, if you have a formula in the cell, it stops you from typing the "Day1" into the cell.

You might need an EVENT macro, based on typing Day1 in a cell.

I think you need to give a bit more thought to what you want to achieve, because it appears you want to be able to enter a variety of data into the cells.

    Regards,

    David

    Hi David
I thought i just replied a moment ago but I can't see it.
Thank for the reply and sorry about the tardy response from me. Been away.
I gave it more thought and consulted with the end users to try something else.
I'm not sure how to "stop" this post or deem it "Don't Worry About it, thanks" so no one else bothers.

    Cheers
    Jim
