Macro to search the entire work book for a specific number Updated at 14:06

I want excel to create a unique identifying number in cell "k1" every time I copy or add a worksheet.

I would prefer it be between 18001 and 18999

Why not have a userform or input box that runs on double click or if you press ctrl and f?

If I have S/N 61413464 on one of the WS in my WB, I want to key in that number someplace and have it go right to that number. It could be on any of 100 WS. I just don't know how to make that happen. I am open to any suggestion.

How to install your new code

1. Copy the Excel VBA code
2. Select the workbook in which you want to store the Excel VBA code
3. Press Alt+F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor
4. Choose Insert > Module
5. Edit > Paste the macro into the module that appeared
6. Close the VBEditor
7. Save your workbook (Excel 2007+ select a macro-enabled file format, like *.xlsm)

To run the Excel VBA code:

1. Press Alt-F8 to open the macro list
2. Select a macro in the list
3. Click the Run button

Your option above pulls up the find box but then you have to go into options and check "entire workbooK" I was looking for a way that automatically searches the entire workbook. Something more user friendly for my employees.

Please upload a sample workbook with a several sheets and some sample serial numbers. In this manner, we can test code and ensure it works as you have requested. I have looked at the code in Post #2 and it looks like it should work. Seeing a representative sample of your actual workbook will ensure this.
