Input data on one sheet & find and transfer to another sheet

Afternoon fellow excel users,

I need some help here. Basically on the 'Course' worksheet I have a list of employees & and there numbers where all I have to do is input a date for their course manually (nothing hard).

However....
On the 'Roster' worksheet I need the word 'Course' automatically placed in the cell after it finds the employee and the date matched in the Course worksheet.

Any ideas?? I'm struggling

Hi, welcome to the forum

Im thinking that something like this should help...
=if(isnumber(match($b3&" "&c$,index('Course'!$b$3:$b$6&" "&'Course'!$c$3:$C$6,0),0)),"Course","")
(untested. If that doesnt work, upload a small (clean) sample workbook (not a pic) of what you are working with, and what your expected outcome would look like.)

Unfortunately I can't get that formula you supplied me to work.
I've tried to upload the excel file however thread wont let me. When I click on the attachment button nothing comes up...... any thoughts.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.

=IF(INDEX(Course!$C$1:$C$6,SUMPRODUCT((Course!$A$3:$A$6=$A3)*(Course!$B$3:$B$6=$B3)*ROW(Course!$C$3:$C$6)),0)=C$2,"Course","")
