    image.jpg

I'm trying to do a error included graph near identical to this one above . I am putting radiance ( photons / sec ) on y and time by groups ( 3 groups ) on x ...i have taken excel eons ago.... And to my maluse I only tried to get through the the course to move on....well I'm here as a member for a while because my new job requires extensive excel and hopefully I'll be well off enough to contribute back here intellectually in a while ....

But for now , any suggestions , protocol , methods that may help me please . Thank you in advance

Re: Error included in chart help please

    Welcome to the forum!

Sorry, but I have absolutely no clue what it is that you want us to help you with.

Will you please attach a sample Excel workbook? We are not able to work with or manipulate a picture of one and nobody wants to have to recreate your data from scratch.

    1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.

    2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).

    3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).

    4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.

Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Please pay particular attention to point 2 (above): without an idea of your intended outcomes, it is often very difficult to offer appropriate advice.

If I understand, it sounds like your main question is how to add error bars to a chart. Perhaps this from Excel's helpfiles will help: https://support.office.com/en-us/art...5-864049a145f0

Re: Error included in chart help please

The steps seemed pretty straightforward to me. From the help file:

Step 1) Click anywhere in the chart.
step 2) Click the chart elements button (a green plus) next to the chart, then check the box next to "error bars".
step 3) If you want something other than the default option, then click on the arrow next to "error bars" to show the different options for the error amount. Click on "more options" in this submenu if you need more options.

    Which step is not working?

Thank you mr shorty , it is straight forward , I'm very ignorant towards excel , I've just not spent even the littlest amount of time on it , I extend my graditude for you helping , I know what it is like to help people with less than basic knowledge on a few topics and it is always frustrating whether the information gets across completely or not , thank you very much ! As I learn more I too will help here , regards
