    Pivot tables and relationships

    Hi Guys,

i tried to do something similar like in youtube below:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Ijb4aKsAVc

    I have two tables there:

And try to create pivot from 2 connections created from these tables.
    I created relationships:

But still result in pivot table is strange.
It seems that this is not creating inner join between tables...

    Why?

    Best,
    Jacek

I'm not answering your exact question, but it is possible using Power Query (see attached).

    Hi kersplash,

    thank you.
I know how to create use PQ.

Question is what is the difference where you are creating relationships using Power Pivot?
    Why this is not working?

    Jacek

Can't answer that. I've tried to use this method in the past and scratch my head too, so PQ it is.

    Re: Pivot tables and relationships

Relationships in PP are more of a left outer join between fact table and dimension, not an inner join. Unless you have something in the value area, it won't have any effect.
