Excel sort in Office 2016

First, I am not an excel expert but an IT admin. Just moved a user from Windows 7 to Windows 10 64bit, fresh install, same machine. The old install was running Office 2010, the new install is running Office 2016 32bit. A simple sort of a field on the same file exported from SAP NetWeaver takes considerably longer. I have checked filters, cleaned excess formatting, etc.... All the default settings for Office 2010 Excel and Office 2016 Excel are the same. Not sure if its Windows 10 or Excel 2016. Maybe the way a sort simple was changed in Excel 2016? Comments welcome.

Some things I would try...

1) Find the range that Excel thinks has data by clicking on cell A1 and then press CTRL+END.
2) Clear all filters
3) Clear format (Home, Editing, Clear, Clear Format)
4) Check to see if there are any macros and when they run (ALT+F11)
5) Make sure you have the latest Windows and Office updates
