If statements for date of birth

    Hello.
I have a list of date of births which I wish to place into the following categories depending on the year they were born
    Category Year Born
    18-21- 2000-1997
    22-25- 1996-1993
    26-35- 1992-1983
    35+ - 1982 & over

So in cell A1 where the date of birth is, in cell B2 I would like the category eg, 18-21. Would this be a IF statement and if so can you give me the formula?
    Any help appreciated

Re: If statements for date of birth

A basic LOOKUP will suffice. In B1 copied down:

    =LOOKUP(YEAR(A1),{0,1983,1993,1997,2001},{"35+","26-35","22-25","18-21","Under-18"})

    =lookup(year(a1),{0,1983,1993,1997},{"35+","26-35","22-25","18-21"})

Ensure you describe your problem clearly, I have little time available to solve these problems and do not appreciate numerous changes to them.

Re: If statements for date of birth

col B = =YEAR(TODAY())-YEAR($A1)and drag it down to the last row. In cell J2 paste the following table
    < Group1
    18 Group2
    21 Group3
    25 Group4
    35 Group5
    > Group6

In col C insert the formula : =VLOOKUP($B1,$J$2:$K$7,2,TRUE)
Modify parameters to suit your needs
