    Connecting Series in Radar Plot

Hello! I am currently working with plotting the minimum and maximum distances of a barcode scanner and comparing this data to other scanners as well. I am using a radar graph, which is graphing the minimal distance in one series and the maximal distance in another series, shown in one attachment.

My goal, however is to be able to connect the maximum positive and negative angles from series1 and series2 together and color in the area between the two series, similar to the other attached image.

Is there any way to do this in excel? I am willing to learn how to implement a macro or anything else that might be necessary. I appreciate any feedback.

Re: Connecting Series in Radar Plot

Short but useless answer -- yes there is a way to do this in Excel.

One thing to note -- the "outer ring" axis of an Excel radar chart can only be a category axis. Your outer ring is a numeric axis (angle is a number, not a category). I think this will be difficult as a pure radar chart, however, it looks very much like a "polar" (distance, angle) chart, which naturally leads me to Andy Pope's polar plot add in: http://andypope.info/charts/polarplot3.htm Testing Pope's add-in suggests that he simply creates a combination radar + xy scatter chart using the raw data (most of the work is in the spreadsheet). With this kind of chart, connecting the two data series should be as simple as adding the end points of one series to the ends of the other data series.

note how the first and last angle is duplicated and a copy of the associated max distance is added to the min distance data series.

Without the need to fill between series, that might be all that is needed for this -- minor adjustment to the chart data and use Pope's Polar Plot add-in. Filling between the series is done by adding more data series as area or stacked area charts. https://peltiertech.com/fill-under-b...n-excel-chart/ In your case, this has the potential to become somewhat tedious, as you may need to fill the area in a piecemeal fashion.

At this point, I make these recommendations:
Download Andy Pope's polar plot add-in and learn all you can about how it creating a combination radar + scatter combination chart.
Carefully go over the examples in Peltier's "fill between chart series" tutorial and understand how it works.
If you need help from us to understand and apply these skills, upload a sample workbook (with dummy data as needed) that we can look at and use to test.
