    Have you tried playing with the ROMAN function?

    A
    B
    C
    D
    2
    V I VI C2: {=ROMAN(MATCH(A2, ROMAN(ROW(INDIRECT("1:3999"))), 0) + MATCH(B2, ROMAN(ROW(INDIRECT("1:3999"))), 0))}
    3
    VII XI XVIII
    4
    LV CI CLVI

    Later versions of Excel have an ARABIC function complementary to ROMAN.

    There's a mistake in Jose's formula. It should read:

    =ROMAN(MATCH(A2,INDEX(ROMAN(ROW($A$1:$A$10000)),,),0)+MATCH(B2,INDEX(ROMAN(ROW($A$1:$A$10000)),,),0))
    Glenn

    Hi Glenn

    You are right. I used the formula for static data.
