    How to attach inventory number to a value

    Hello, I am making an inventory list on excel. All of the inventory items have a specific inventory number, so when I add an item to a cell of the list I want, that the cell next to it would fill automaticaly with it's inventory number so I wouldn't do it by hand. I want to ask how to link an item to its inventory number?

    You can do this using a lookup table.

    See attached. The blue cells are the lookup table, where one column holds the item and the other holds the item number.

    Put the item names in the yellow cells and the item number will populate in the green cells using the below formula:

    Also in "B2" use index match function as per BSB file.

    Thank you, yes your function seems right I just do not know how to add it to my list because it has many info, I am attaching the file here maybe you could show me? The column which hold the item I marked blue and the item number yellow, all of the data is on the "inventory data" spreadsheet, where is all of the items and their numbers which I marked also, thank you for your help!!!

    Perhaps this will be of some help.
    Using this video as a guide, name the range C3:G29 (MotorinėInvNo in the attached copy of the file).
    Note that you will need to similarly name each section of the inventory data sheet.
    You may then populate column F using: =VLOOKUP([@Įrankis],INDIRECT([@Grupė]&"InvNo"),4,0)
