How to link raw data spreadsheet into final well formatted one?

    Good day,

I have limited knowledge of Excel therefore your help will be much appreciated.
I am having following task to tackle - there is an Excel spreadsheet with a raw data generated by another software. Information there is textual only, no need for any calculations. What is the best solution, native or third party, which would allow me to link these data into another excel spreadsheet and format it as required while maintaining the link? Raw data is supposed to be updated, including the change in a number of cells.

    Thank you.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Can we just clarify. You mention an Excel spreadsheet. Do you actually mean an Excel workbook or a sheet within a workbook?

If the former how many workbooks are there? Your description suggests the third party software provides data for the first workbook, but then you seem to suggest that the data then needs to feed the data into a second workbook, apparently formatted in a different layout.

    Is that correct?

Could you upload examples of the workbooks and if possible the third party file that feeds the data.

    Hi Richard,

    Thank you for welcome.
Apologise for being unclear in terminology, I meant two separate workbooks.

I am attaching 2 workbooks - the raw data and formatted one.
It is a door schedule generated by architectural software, basically a list of doors on a project. Each door item has unique ID assigned(first column).

    Changes in final document include:

    1. Addition of project information (Project name, Project number, Revision, etc). Perhaps can be done as a Header?
    2. Amendments of the columns' names including group headings ("LOCATION", "DOOR LEAF DETAILS", etc).

    3. Removing of the column "Level: Name" and indicating the level in a new row.

So far I am playing with Power Query functionality and it should work for 1 & 2 ok. Is there a better solution than PQ?
I have no idea how to manipulate the table to achieve 3.

    Thank you
