    Quick way to multiply cells

Hi! I've got a column of products. Beside it, I've got a column of the prices. Then, each customer has a column, and the quantity of each product ordered is listed in the row of the product. Is there a quick way have excel multiply each product X price, then added together for a total? Without having to manually insert the formula for each thing...
File attached. Pardon my profound excel-ignorance, and thank you for your help!

Re: Quick way to multiply cells

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The simplest way is insert a couple of spare rows so that the product list starts on row 4

    Then in C1 copied across

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Disclaimer -- I'm not an accountant, so there may be an accounting specific practice that I am unaware of.
Which direction do you want the total -- I canot tell from your description?
A "per product across all customers" total seems like it should be =SUM(C2:U2)*B2 in a convenient column adjacent to the data (maybe entered in W2) then copied down.
A "per customer total" would make use of the SUMPRODUCT() function (https://support.office.com/en-us/art...c-4d2145a2fd2e ). =SUMPRODUCT($B$2:$B$43,C2:C43) in a convenient row (maybe entered in C45) and copied across (note the mix of relative and absolute references for easy copying).
Is one of those the total you are looking for?

Thank you! You've saved me loads of time.
Followup Question: How can I sort the customer-name row horizontally without mixing up all of their orders?

Re: Quick way to multiply cells

Just use the standard Sort functionality.

Sorting by columns is not as common as by rows and hence not generally known about.

    Select C2:U45
Choose Data Sort Options, then Sort Left to Right
Choose Row 2 as the sort key and OK.
