Excel Spreadsheets: Windows and MAC usage

I am looking at getting a new Laptop. There's a lot to like about a Macbook, and so I wonder how will Microsoft Excel 2016 365 PROPLUS spreadsheets run on a MAC? I have loads of formulas and macros. Will these work or bomb?
I recognize this may be an impossible question, but I'm curious whether it is an improbable / impossible expectation or not? And I'm asking because once upon a time, it would definitely have been unthinkable. But we're in a 2nd decade of a new century and my expectations may be out of date. Thoughts? Comments? All appreciated. Thank you.

On a Mac you can't use ActiveX, dictionaries, regular expressions (I think), the filesystemobject object, Windows API, ...

I don't know what alternatives exist.

shg: I'm pretty sure that was true for the older versions on your list (2003 and 2010). Now that we're on 2016 and using the MS 365 ProPlus version, I wonder whether MS has tried to push the platforms closer together within the spreadsheet/workbooks themselves. Guess there's nothing like taking a spreadsheet to the Apple store and giving it a whirl to see what happens.

It’s still true for the latest version, you still can’t build userforms on the Mac version
