    Rows

    Hi guys

I am using the match formula which is giving me a row number. Working fine.
I now want to return that row number in a different column

So in English what I want to say is
What is in row number (whatever is in D1,can vary) in column A:A
So assuming the match formula returns row 3 I want to know what is in row 3 in column A:A

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Rows

it sounds like you need to incorporate an indirect into your formula but without seeing a sample workbook or the formula it is difficult to determine. A small sample with expected results can go a long way.

    Thank you for your reply

    I have typed in
    =Index(‘sign In’!M:M,Attendance!DO5)

The first part being the column I want to find the row of and the second part being the cell that has the row number in it. It did not work.

what I need is “lookup the row number in DO5 in column N:N”

    Hope that makes sense.

    Re: Rows

    I now have =index(‘sign In’!M:M,Match($B5,’sign in’!x$3:x$1000,0))

    No joy

    welcome to the forum

For future reference, please take a moment to read the forum rules and use thread titles that are descriptive of your problem - not what you think the answer might be. (think google search terms?).

Many members search our previous posts, and thread titles play a big part of the search. I doubt anybody would do a search based on your title?
