Creating a Word contract with an Excel estimate

What is the best way to take an excel workbook with customer information in various places in it and dump that information into a pre-made contract template? I could write a macro, but it would not know which template to use, only a user would know that based on project parameters. I say that, there are only a couple different kinds of projects and I could create a list in excel to select that kind, I just don't know how the macro would then be able to determine with that preset parameter that it would link back to a certain word doc.

Provided your data are structured consistently, you could create a new document from whichever template is appropriate and populate bookmarks there with the desired values. This is all quite straightforward. Try, something based on:

For PC macro installation & usage instructions, see: http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm

Alternatively, if there are multiple records and each is laid out as one row per record, you might configure each 'template' as a mailmerge main document, then simply open up the appropriate template and merge the particular record you're interested in.
