    Re: vlookup help

    Welcome to the forum!

Although there is no official rule regarding this behaviour, we request that wherever possible both the question AND the answer be provided in substantive detail here within the thread. An attached workbook is an excellent aid for posing a question and offering a solution, but solely doing that with no in thread explanation makes it difficult for researchers to understand or consider the Q & A of this thread without downloading what may be a pointless doc to them, if they can do that at all. Doing that also hides the content from search engines so others may never benefit from this.

I have added the detail for you this time. Next time, please do so yourself. I have also improved your thread title to come into line with our forum rules. Again, do this yourself next time. Thanks.

Re: vlookup help to find weekly highs and lows

Are you required to use a formula? Considering the size of the database, I think I would prefer a pivot table for this (https://www.excel-easy.com/data-****...ot-tables.html ). Steps I took:

    1) Excel's basic pivot table cannot group by week, so I added a column to the source data =WEEKNUM(A2) [https://support.office.com/en-us/art...1-b18c13c75340 ]
    2) Select a cell in the source data -> Insert -> pivot table. Confirm source data range and select output range.
    3) Place weeknumber in the row labels, symbol as a column label, and max of high/low/close as the value fields. (Or maybe put symbol as row label and weeknum as column label).

I think that's how I would do it. Is that something that will work for you?
