    Aviation Request

    Hello,

I am hoping to get feedback as how best to accomplish a dynamic image that interacts with data. The below image is an example of what I am trying to create.

I am rather clueless as to where I should start.

The end result I would like to have is if data indicates an increase then the aircraft indicator goes up. If it is stagnant then its level and if it shows a decrease it goes down. Any input or references that you this fine excel community has would be greatly appreciated.

    Re: Aviation Request

Others with more imagination may jump in but I don't think this is something for which Excel is best suited. I would be thinking more along the lines of Java for example. Something with the capability to generate/animate graphics.

I'm curious too why you say you want the aircraft indicator to go up and down depending on the input data (for which you don't specify the source). This is a turn coordinator. The aircraft symbol rotates left or right, not up or down.

Sounds like a request for Andy Pope but you'll need to provide a sample of the data you have.

For a turn co-ordinator the data involved is bank angle, rate of turn required and airspeed. For the slip indicator, which indicates how well the turn is balanced, you'll need to compare the ideal combination of those variables given one of them with the actual situation which will involve data about the rudder angle, the rudder deflection being necessary to balance the turn and keep the black ball central.

As has been remarked this is not an artificia horizon indicator which would indicate how the aircraft is pitched, (the clue is the 'No Pitch Information' reminder.

    .
Possibly use three different images: One showing UP, one showing LEVEL, one showing DOWN. And I presume you mean the tilt of the wings in two differnt directions ?

In any case, it won't show a progressive change, but set the change for a specific value of increase or decrease for the image to change. Otherwise the LEVEL image is displayed ?

You could do the same with the RATE OF BANK indicator ?

Of course if you wanted a more gradual increase/decrease, create additional images corresponding to the degree of change.

Maybe not as sophisticated as you were hoping for but a result never the less ?
