Question Have excel bring over sets of data through a drop down list

    Hey Excel people,

Let's imagine I currently have five different excel sheets in one workbook, each for a different type of a fence i.e. Fence Type 1, Fence Type 2 etc.
I'd like to have just one Master sheet where the basic info could be stored and any data that's shared across the different types of fences, like delivery and installation costs would be the same.

I'd like to have a button or a drop list where I select which type of fence it is and have excel auto populate cells for me, both text and numbersm, or bring whole areas over.

Is this something excel can do without having to go into Macros as those are ALWAYS a pain in the ..

    Thanks,

It's definitely possible. It would be easier to give you details specific to your situation if you attach your file. The paper clip icon does not work for attachments. To attach a file, under the text box where you type your reply click the Go Advanced button. On the next screen scroll down and click on Manage Attachments, which will show a pop-up window to Select and Upload a file. Then close the window.

It looks like this is a conceptual mock-up rather than your actual file. I can't figure out what kind of control you want to select fences, or how you will list the individual "extra" line items. Is the box "Extras costs based on the selection" intended to be a placeholder for what will be multiple lines?

Here is a prototype solution to show you how to do this. It involves creating two named ranges, one that returns the list of extras that correspond to the selected fence type, and one that gives a lookup table so the price of an item can be found.

My apologies, reason for the mock-up simply being the one I intend to change cannot be uploaded for a number of reasons. I do appreciate you trying though and will have a look at it right now, will keep you updated if that's ok.

    Thanks
