Division with time gives wrong result

Sorry for the topic as I am a beginner and have never worked with excel.

    I have in a spreadsheet:

    (A1) (Format: [hh]:mm) ..... 90:00 (=ninety hours)
(B1) (number of hours I want to divide with ninety hours) ... 8:80
    (C1) (=result)

when I use the time format the account gives: 10:13
    but the result is 10,23 , if you make 90 \ 8,8

complicates because 08:80 is not accepted

    the desired result would be:
    90:00\08:80=10:23

    thanks all

No wonder Excel is confused.... How do you get a time of 8 hours and 80 minutes??

I think this is really just a case of not fully understanding how Excel stores and uses time (and date) values. I strongly recommend a review of a page like this: http://www.cpearson.com/Excel/datetime.htm
    Then note that:
90:00 (90 hours) is stored in Excel as 3.75 (meaning 3.75 days).
8.8 hours would be stored in Excel as 0.36666..... and would display as 8:48 (8 hours 48 minutes).
3.75/0.3666666 would be the same calculation as 90:00:00/8:48:00 and both calculations should return ~10.23.

This is true but I want to add that the 10.23 figure is in units of days. The result is 245:27:00, and not 10:23:00, as ClaudioH seems to want.
