    SQL from Power Query

    Hi,

I have excel file with SQL connection that takes data from ERP system. In SQL connection properties window I have checked 'save password' and do not need to type it again when open file.

I tried to create new excel file to get the same data directly to Power Query without necessity of loading these all into worksheet.
It works. But each time when open that file the password is required.

where I can set it up?

    Open the Query Editor
    Choose Data Source Settings
    Choose Edit Permissions...
    At Credentials choose Edit.
If you access the database using Windows Authentication:
In the Windows tab check Use my current credentials or enter alternative credentials
    If you don't
Select the database tab and enter username and password
(Assumed it's an SQL Server db)

    Thx Tsjallie

I try to connect to database and do like you said.
But when I open the credential window again I can see there is different password (I see only asterisks but the lenght is different)

    Re: SQL from Power Query

Would be weird for Excel PQ to change the password you entered and I don't think it does.
What login method are you using: windows authentication or are users/passwords stored at database level?
I don't think Excel PQ stores userid's and passwords (would be a nice security issue). So if you use authentication at database level you will probably have to enter your password each time you connect. Best to use windows authentication, but that has to be enable in the database.
Check with the dba if that's enabled or - if not - if they are willing to enable it.
