at a loss here as to how to accomplish this task w/o manually doing it. I basically have a list of 200+ candidates. Ther are 60 jobs available, and the hiring managers have ranked hi to low (1 to 5) as to who they prefer for their particular job. whats the best way to capture this info so that we can then see where we need to intervene--ie make decisions if two jobs like the same candidate at the same rank?

Attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.
Remember to desensitize the data.
Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

Attach a Excel sample containing data.
1. Make sure that your sample data are REPRESENTATIVE of your real data. The use of unrepresentative data is very frustrating and can lead to long delays in reaching a solution.
2. Make sure that your desired results are also shown (mock up the results manually).
3. Make sure that all confidential data is removed or replaced with dummy data first (e.g. names, addresses, E-mails, etc.).
4. Try to avoid using merged cells as they cause lots of problems.
Unfortunately the attachment icon doesn't work at the moment, so to attach an Excel file you have to do the following: just before posting, scroll down to Go Advanced and then scroll down to Manage Attachments. Now follow the instructions at the top of that screen.

Thank you for the quick responses. I do not have a sample as yet, so maybe I will come back when I have something to show. For now, I was more looking for guidance on how to setup an sheet that would reflect a decision matrix with inputs for Rank (1 through 5) and project.
You add the raw data into a sheet containing all the data like: Job, Manager, Candidate and Rank. Then in a output data you could create some dropdowns for rank and manager to return the candidate and then, in separate rows or columns you could return the job/jobs. doing so, you will find the candidates that had a specific rank for multiple jobs. A sample would help a lot

I believe that is beyond the scope of Excel. I feel that once you find the answer you could then come back, with a small manually completed sample (say 10 candidates and 3 jobs), and we may be able to automate the process using formulas/code so that it could be applied to the larger data base.is there sort of a decision matrix, or algorithm of sorts that would provide the best outcome so that each job gets the best match?
