how to keep the text contents of a cell from spilling over

In the model I'm working in there's a column for comments. These comments are often pretty long and won't fit in that cell without spilling out into other columns and looking pretty ugly. The alternative is to wrap text, but then that throws off the row height and again looks really bad.

Is there some way to contain the contents of a cell to that cell, without changing the row/column dimensions?

i noticed that if the text in that cell is short, it will repeat it as many times at it fits in the cell

for example if on one cell the most I can fit is 10 characters
then a work that uses 6 or more characters will only appear once
a word that uses 3 characters will appear 3 times

is that normal?
