Excel Migration from Windows 7/excel 2007 to Windows 10/ excel ?

I am planning migrating to a Windows 10 machine from windows 7. I currently have a large # of excel 2007 scripts.
What is the best migration strategy to ensure a successful migration of these excel scripts ? My current plan is to
buy a new Win 10 system and copy over the scripts - is there a utility I need to use ? I haven't found good migration
documentation, and any suggestions would be very helpful.
When I worked as a systems engineer on Unix/Linux /AIX systems, there were migration strategies that melded the
old and new operating systems , but I don't see that option available.
Anyone out there has done this ?
    Thanks,

    John Yard

What do you mean by "scripts?" Are you talking about macros?

If so, they go along for the ride with the files and not the operating system.

Will you be doing a "clean" installation of Windows 10 (meaning all data and programs are wiped out) or an upgrade installation of Windows 10?

I've done both and both seemed to go seamlessly. I was on Office 2010 when I did some of the transitions, and later decided to rent 365.
One spreadsheet to rule them all. One spreadsheet to find them. One spreadsheet to bring them all and at corporate, bind them.

A picture is worth a thousand words, but a sample spreadsheet is more likely to be worked on.

I was planning on buying a new machine, as my current machine is old. What is the procedure to copy
the old excel source to the new system?

Here is a highly recommended link: https://www.howtogeek.com/265054/how...the-bloatware/.

My hardware is probably more than 7 years old at home . When I loaded Windows 10, I got a boost in performance. I even managed to load it on a laptop I inherited that was running VISTA! However, I think that machine is destined to become my Linux playground (got to learn it somewhere) even though it's only 32-bit.

I suggest you do run the program mentioned in the link before installing any software. It will give you a "clean" installation of Windows 10 without the crapware loaded by the manufacturer. If you are new to Windows 10, the How-to-Geek site is a good resource.

I do not think you will have any issue installing office. According to what I read, it is compatible with Windows 10, but support from Microsoft ended in 2017.

In my situation, I opted to "rent" office from Microsoft for $99 a year. But that's for 5 licenses. Since I have multiple devices it's worth it. It also comes with technical support. Tech support used to be excellent, but has been slipping as of late. However, if it is a relatively routine problem, they can handle it and will even log onto your machine to fix things.

If you want to stick with 2007, that's OK too. It should still work. It may not be getting any security updates, but if you say off the internet with it, it should be OK.

You will need the installation CD. You can't just copy things over. I'm an ex-Unix hacker. Things were easier there. Ship the source code, compile it. If you were on the same hardware and version of Unix then copying the executables was enough. Windows has installers and this thing called the registry that I won't touch unless I have VERY specific instructions. There are some executables that run without the registry, but Office isn't one of them.

I don't know if the installation software is available on line for Office 2007 - even then, you will need a valid license key. Also there is a good chance the new machine won't have a CD drive, you may have to copy your CD to a flash drive. I've done that with other software and it works.
