    Sorting question

    Hi,

I have a spreadsheet with Part #s in column A. There are quantities in column B associated with the part #s in column A.

    Example:

    Column A Column B
    SFTR-56 35
    SFYU-82 6
    WRR-83 18

I’d like to pull the Part # onto a new tab of the spreadsheet and list it as many times as the quantity indicates. After that the second Part # listed as many times as that indicates and so on. All in a big long column.
The goal is to use this second “deconstructed” list to use for printing labels.

    Hopefully that makes sense.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Keith

    Fluff13,

Thanks for the response. I have to admit I need more specific instructions like what formulas to put in what cells.

    Thanks,
    Keith

    Re: Sorting question

    Hi Keith,

How about attaching a sample workbook.

Attach a sample workbook (not a picture or pasted copy). Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and then scroll down to Manage Attachments to open the upload window.

    Regards, Jeff

    Re: Sorting question

Here is a formula based option.
With reference to the picture below:
Is this what you are looking for?
Can you live with a helper column somewhere in the first worksheet?

The attached workbook implements the above.

    Re: Sorting question

That worked. Thank you so much!! This helped me overcome a hurdle on an important project.

Thanks also for the pointers on posting questions, such as attaching an excel file with what I'm looking for. I will heed that advice for the future.

I've noticed many of the posts show "problem solved." Do I need to do something to check that box?

    Thanks again,
    Keith
