    Question Sharing questions Office 365

I'm currently having some problems with sharing since I'm running Office 365 and am taking a course on Linked In Learning pertaining to Excel 2016. The only difference between the two I'm aware of is saving in the cloud automatically as changes are made.

It's a great course but Office uses the "Co-Authoring" function which the course says nothing about. I can do a legacy share and change tracking no problem. But of course it can't be edited by more than one person at a time.

I click "Share" in the upper right, ensuring the workbook is not currently shared and I get a dialog on the right asking to enter email addresses. They are sent but Co-Authoring is not enabled.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure that you have enabled editing in the share dialog.

You have marked the thread as solved, but not responded to my suggestion - should we assume that it worked?

That did work and thank you!

I had been selecting the "Can Edit" option with an unshared workbook but still was unable to edit simultaneously. But it turned out I was working with a local copy. Once I shared a copy on OneDrive, Co-authoring worked fine.

But editing done in the cloud was not simutaneously updated in real time. I'm assuming it's not supposed to? But upon closing, and reopening the changes updated. Is there a way to refresh the changes without closing and reopening?

You can use the refresh button on the data ribbon to refresh your connections.
