Trouble implementing a solution for a dependent drop down list

    Hi,
I have a sheet with some data (name, organization, number) and i want to create another sheet that allows a user to select the organization in cell B4, the organization selected will affect what list of names is shown within the drop down in cell C4 as per the table in the data sheet.

I have seen solutions and it requires that the data in the organization column in the data sheet be turned into columns instead of rows. I would like to avoid doing that.

Please attach a workbook with sample data in it so that we can accurately create what you are asking for.

Ok so i have updated your worksheet quickly. I have added a drop down selection list for you. Then i added 2 array index match formulas to go after the data you were looking for.

Re: Trouble implementing a solution for a dependent drop down list

I have been trying something similar but I require some adjustments that I cant seem to be able to figure out. Firstly under the
the user sheet I need the user to be able to keep a record of the names selected so Column B should keep the names selected and the user should be able to fill
    the subsequent cells.

Im new to array formulas but what I have tried to do is run a modified array formula that generates a list of the names attached to each organization based on what the user selects
in the cell B4, B5, B6 etc in the user sheet. The formula only generates one name though and I can only get the same name for the subsequent cells as shown in the attached file.

Re: Trouble implementing a solution for a dependent drop down list

Hello akewander and Welcome to Excel Forum.
Not sure why you would not want to put your data in columns. In the video linked below (Highline college) starting at about 13:20, it displays how to quickly make dependent drop down columns. In the attached file those column lists are converted to tables (a pointer that may be picked up from a couple of minutes earlier in the same video) so that they will be dynamic.
As to making a list of names try: =INDEX(Table2[Name],ROWS(B$18:B18))
