Adding number to a cell without making it possible to edit / Calendar

Howdy

I need to insert the day in a cell square without making it possible to edit or remove it

I wonder if its possible to keep the number detached from the cell contents. In a way i can edit the cell without editing that number.

I want to get a calendar running and this would be a good way to do so

You can't do that, but what you could do is put the date in the cell above and lock it. Fill the cells with a white background (so the grid lines disappear) and enclose both cells in a single border so it LOOKS like a single cell.
