Re: add rupee symbol in formula

To insert the rupee symbol in a TEXT function you will need to use Symbol functionality under the Insert menu

the Unicode(hex) code for Rupee symbol is 20B9 this will help you find the symbol easy.

I created a small example file with your formula with the rupee sign added as it is below too..
    Formula: copy to clipboard

you should not try to use a separate font for 1 character as the cell formatting will only allow 1 font for the entire formula. as you have noticed as the rupee gets changed to D.
you have to use the available currency symbols in the character set of excel/windows instead.

in the example file I also included a screenshot of the symbol screen and marked where you need to fill 20B9 to quickly find the symbol

Re: add rupee symbol in formula

    Hi sanjuss2,

while googling a bit more I understand the rupee symbol is rather new, I did not know that.. Microsoft has released some updates for older versions to get it added to the fonts.
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/...ian-rupee-in-w

so try that or google for a solution for your local needs. having the symbol in the charactermap is the best solution.
When you update you do not need to use any special tricks like I discribed. It will then be available in cel formatting for currency symbol so you can also set it as default local setting in your windows settings if you want.

Trying to use it from a special font is difficult to combine with other text in the same cell or formula. It is only possible to have 2 different fonts in 1 cell if you type it manually.
