    Question Time difference calculation (+mm:ss.00)

    Hi all,
Another noob here :D. I tried Search first, but I didn't find exacly what I'm looking for.

    Case:
I keep track of a small racing league, and I have the lap times of Custom format mm:ss.00
I need to make automatic difference between all time best lap, and the current best lap, for every racer / round.

Cell G4 (format mm:ss.00. Correct or it should be another ?) which is current best lap: 1:35.15
Cell G2 (format mm:ss.00 ) which is all time best lap: 1:32.94

I want to have the difference between the two. How ? (as following format: + 00:02.21).

Hope I was clear enough to have an answer from the excel gurus . Thanks

. I tried, that doesn't work. Maybe the cell formating is wrong.. I attach a sample, could you have a look, please ?

Your lap times are stored as text.

Select a blank cell, copy, select the lap times, Edit > Paste Special, tick Values and Add, press OK.

It was really your unlucky day today, to be stuck with the most retarded excel user.. Either I didn't get you exactly, either there is a problem with my office, 'cause it doesn't work. Anyway, I won't even dare to ask you to be more specific.. but I'm still hoping that your conscience will kick in . Thanks for the help. Anyone else got some time to waste ?

    Hello luchian.

As shg says, your formulas are OK but they don't work because column G has text formatted values rather than "real" times.

    Try this:

    Select column G
Click on "Data" in the menu across the top
    Select "Text to colums" option
    Do nothing except click "Finish"
That converts the times and your formulas in columns H and I should now work

ensure that you format those columns as mm:ss.00
