Question How can I transform the blue table into the green one? I don't even know what to google

    ids.png

I have a table with thousands of rows, and the data is show as in the black table, and I'd need it as the blue table. I know how to do it manually but I have to do it on 8 spreadsheets with housands of rows.

I don't even know what to google . If anyone could give me a hand, even if it is just for the term to google.

Just post it without the www.

Basically don't allow the link to be seen as a clickable link until you get enough posts. It's either 5 or 10. Not sure as I believe it recently changed.

In Power Query, you can use the fill function and it will fill down the blank cells to the value directly above. Power Query is available in versions 2010 and later. In 2016 and later it is called Get and Transform. Upload your file and I can demonstrate the actions needed. It is a quick and simple procedure.

Insert a column to the left of the data then enter the following formula starting at the second cell and copy it down to the end of the data. =IF(B3="",A2,B3)

Select column A, copy and paste it back on itself as values and delete column B
