How do I remove multiple check boxes at ONCE from Excel 2007?

I have a column which has hundreds of check boxes that need to be removed. The check box uses ActiveX controls and must use Design mode to remove. I know how to remove a check box one at a time, right clicking and then deleting. I don't want to have to remove each individual check box when there are hundreds in the column.

I have seen comments in my search which say to right click on the check box while in Design mode (on the Developer tab) and then press Ctrl-A to select all. But that does NOT select all the check boxes. How do I remove ALL the check boxes at once?

Also, they are NOT objects (I already know how to press F5 to remove all objects from a worksheet).

    Thanks!

Long time since you asked the question, but it's one I've asked myself before, so for others with similar issues:

    How about
    • Ctrl & G,
      then click 'Special...',
select the 'Objects' radio button and click OK.
      Hit Delete.

Works for me - which suggests there ARE objects!

Sorry it took so long to reply. I didn't realize there was a reply. :-)

The suggestion you gave doesn't work because they are not objects. Something with active-x. My spreadsheet had other objects on that I didn't have any problem getting rid of. For these check boxes, I have to click on the "Developer" tab, then on the Ribbon there's an icon for "Design" which I have to click. Only then can I highlight a check box and press the delete key. But pressing "ctrl-A" to highlight all the check-boxes does not work.

Thanks, Big Chris. This was exactly what I needed in Excel 2013. It selected one or two things I didn't want deleted, but they were easy to de-select by using Ctrl-Click before I hit delete.
