Excel won't let me click on the cell I want

I am working on a PC, using Excel 2016. When I try and click on a specific cell, Excel will not let me and instead goes to a random different cell (e.g. I try and click on cell D19 and it goes to F12 instead). I then have to use the arrow keys to navigate to the cell I originally wanted to, which is frustrating on large spreadsheets. I have also tried typing the cell number into the box in the top left-hand corner but that doesn't work when I attempt to write in the cell, and I end up manually navigating to the cell once again.

This issue has persisted over a few days. There is not a huge amount of content in the spreadsheet and it only has two worksheets within it. The issue didn't arise until a few days ago but I am finding it really frustrating. I have restarted my computer in the meantime hoping this would fix the issue but it hasn't.

    Thanks

Is this happening with a specific workbook only, or does it happen with every workbook?

A specific workbook only. It has happened with a few other workbooks in the past but I've always just dealt with the annoyance, but I'd like to solve it now!

It sounds like the workbook may be corrupted, or there is some weird VBA or macros running. If you can upload the workbook, it would be helpful. To upload, click Go Advanced (below the quick reply box), then click Manage Attachments. Click Browse to find your file, click Open, then click Upload. Click Close this window, and your file will be attached when you submit your reply.

Re: Excel won't let me click on the cell I want

    Hi,

I think the file should be attached now? Ignore the content- it is for a case study exam I am sitting next week, which will be time pressured. As such I would like to be able to navigate around the document as easily and quickly as possible.
When it is throwing up this issue, it seems to look a little blurry?

I do not seem to have any issues navigating it, and I don't see any blurriness. Are you switching between a standalone monitor and laptop screen, or perhaps using a projector? What is the zoom level set at while you're viewing the file? Those are the only questions I can think of right now that might be affecting the workbook.

Currently just using a single laptop screen, and this has been happening on and off for days on various levels of zoom. Not entirely sure why it only chooses to work sometimes!! Thanks for your help.

    Hi,

It might be because your hand resting on the touchpad of the laptop. Connect a USB mouse to the laptop and disable the touchpad. That should fix the issue. The issue might also be because of any new updates installed for Office.
    With regards,
