Is there a quick way of applying a Conditional Formatting rule to other cells?

    Hi,

If I have a conditional formatting rule is there a quick way of applying it to other cells?

I tried the Format Painter but it just applies the format, not the rule.

    Thanks very much

    Dave

If you highlight the range and apply the rule it should work

When you say "apply the rule" do you mean when you create the rule?
I am trying to highlight in red text where a Start date is later than a Finish date. The dates are down two columns. I can set the rule to work for one set of start and finish dates but can only do it manually for each set of dates.

    Thanks

I use the formula =$J$10>$K$10 and select the cells during the creation of the formula.

    Conditional Formatting in A1.

    Conditional Formatting in B1.

Copy A1, highlight A2 to A10, right click for paste menu and select formatting icon (the one with % sign).
Repeat, Copy B1, highlight B2 to B10, right click for paste menu and select formatting icon (the one with % sign).
