Custom Sort: cell contents move, borders do not

Running EXCEL 2010 File is *.xlsx

I need to sort the entire spreadsheet referenced by Column B [A-Z] which contains text.

Some of the cells out in the field [which only contain text] have borders, others do not. After the Custom Sort on Column B, the contents of all the cells sort properly but borders DO NOT move with their original cells. They remain in their original position.

A friend with an earlier version claims this doesn't happen. Also doesn't happen with Open Office.

except for conditional formatting or VBA, the cell borders do not move when sorting/moving data.
