vlookup fails to find the match

Vlookup failing to find a match seems to be a common problem but I have tried almost every suggested approach online (admittedly, not through an exhaustive search), yet still cannot find a solution.

Attached please find the two columns of info that I am trying to find the match.
A column of my matching function is also included.

Three supposedly identical matches are color-coded.

Any idea why vlookup fails ?

Your barcodes are text, not numbers so ISNUMBER will always return FALSE.

If you simply want to validate the existance of the barcode then you want MATCH, not VLOOKUP.

OMG. My apologies for my blatant stupidity.

It happens to everyone, sometimes you just need fresh eyes to look at the problem
