    Online Tutor / Assistance

    Good day.

    Total novice, with a couple of questions.

    Question 1: I have a ID number, 7401235229081. The first 6 numbers indicate the birthdate, 23 January 1974. I want to calculate age from this in the next column. There are various formulas on the net, but it seems I just cant get it to work. Any suggestions.

    You can get the birthdate using this formula in B1, assuming your ID is in A1:

    =DATE(LEFT(A1,2),MID(A1,3,2),MID(A1,5,2))

    If you want the age in years, you can use this:

    =DATEDIF(DATE(LEFT(A1,2),MID(A1,3,2),MID(A1,5,2)),TODAY(),"y")

    where the cell needs to be formatted as General.

    Hope this helps.
